Is usenet downloading legal?

Currently downloading from usenet is 100% legal and there is nothing to be worried about. There have been some reports of the RIAA trying to file suit as they have against napster, kazaa, limewire, and other popular file sharing software but those lawsuits have gone no where. Unlike other popular file sharing software usenet is not peer-to-peer and you never upload any files to usenet nor allow any other user on usenet to access your files.

One of the best things about usenet is that if you choose one of our suggested usenet providers no one will ever know what you've been downloading from usenet. These recommended usenet service providers do not monitor your usenet activity and purposely delete any logs of your activity so that even if they were required to; they would be unable to provide a log of your activity on usenet.

Lately, in 2008, some high speed internet providers such as Comcast have begun to implement monthly bandwidth restrictions on their subscribers. This is because of amount of content downloaded from usenet, peer-to-peer, .torrents, filesharing and porn sites. In fall 2008 comcast plans to place a restriction on the amount you are able to download each month by putting a 250GB download cap on all subscribers. According to Comcast anything over 250GB per month is considered "abuse" and will not be tolerated.
